The incident of Flight 253 Friday morning

Senior U.S officials considered the endeavor to ignite a powder overseas a commercial jetliner as an action of terrorism. A Nigerian man connected to al-Qaida did violence to a jetliner before its descent into Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport on Friday.

According to the narration of Isham Cory, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, Flight 253 with 278 passengers seemed allright on its final approach to Detroit. Suddenly, there was a trouble in the passenger cabin when an emergency declaration in an email message was given out from the pilot. Luckily, the plane landed safely at 11:51 a.m. ET.

NBC News quotes U.S officials’ statement that the man who attacked the flight strapped a bag containing some kind of inflammable device to his body. NBC station WDIV-TV of Detroit shows that there were a concoction of powder and liquid in the device but it failed to light when the man attempted to explode it at the time of the plane landing in Detroit.

The action of terrorism was found by two people. The attacker who had been stamped down another person was having a treatment at the burn unit of the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. The man was Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23 year- old Nigerian who was on flight with one-way ticket.

According to a short profile of Abdulmutallab given by the senior Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep.

Peter King of New York, he was listed in federal files on counterterrorism and suspicious travelers whom the government prohibited them from flying in the United States.

The incident to the flight proposed a concerning questions on airline security.

Abdulmutallab admitted that he had connection with al-Qaida and planned to ignite powder over the United States. One day before, the crew of Northwest Air Lines Flight 253 from Amsterdam, left Lagos, Nigeria subdued this man.

A British member of al-Qaida with inflammable mixture in his shoes endeavored to set off a flight from Paris to Miami eight years ago. Now the similar attack happened. Especially, the timing of the terrorism was coincident with the release of Taliban’s video of a U.S soldier capped in Afghanistan.

According to many sources of news, the government had raised alarming alerts for flight attack after the incident. However, this matter had been in concern before.

Bill Burton, a spokesman for the White House informed President Barack Obama about the incident. Then an interagency meeting was convoked out of Washington with the presence of law enforcement and security and senior intelligence. The meeting focused on the incident and proposing measures to prevent other similar terrorism except security measures.
