Q&A: When between Apollo XI and today did Buzz Aldrin first say he thought the ufo they had seen was just a panel?

Question by jrels2: When between Apollo XI and today did Buzz Aldrin first say he thought the ufo they had seen was just a panel?

During the Apollo 11 flight to the moon Buzz Aldrin claimed that he and Niel Armstrong had seen a strange UFO alongside their capsule.

It appears to me that for some time, perhaps since the 70′s, Buzz has been making this claim that they had seen a UFO that they could not explain, but only recently in 2007 is he now saying that they were 99.9% sure it was just a panel from their own equipment. Am I right in this assumption?

I didn’t hear about Buzz Aldrin’s 2007 retraction, but it seems logical. After all, a UFO would have come from some planet other than Earth. The significance of this fact is that the alleged “UFO” was following the same trajectory and speed as the Apollo spacecraft. A object from a planet other than Earth should have been following a different trajectory (since it was coming from a different direction) than the Apollo spacecraft, and would have been traveling at a different speed, since it would have come from another star that would be much father away than the Earth was from the moon. So the object Buzz saw must have been part of the Apollo spacecraft.
